Gweilo Corporation

Gweilo Corporation was incorporated in 2001 primarily as the owner of the first Gweilos Bar located in Palanca St, Legaspi Village, Makati CBD. The place was home to several working professionals around the business district.

In 2004, Gweilo Corporation opened Gweilos in Eastwood City, Libis in 2004.  Another branch was opened in SM Mall of Asia in 2007.

Also in 2007, Gweilo Corporation acquired the Mario’s Kitchen franchise. Mario’s Kitchen is an offshoot of the popular Mario’s restaurant chain famed for its traditional Spanish cuisine. Included in the acquisition are the popular age old recipes like Callos Madrilena, Lengua con Setas, Caesar Salad, Oysters Rockefeller, and Paella Valenciana, among other best sellers.

 After its acquisition, Mario’s Kitchen underwent some restructuring in the form of streamlining of operational guidelines including rebranding efforts that resulted to the renovation of all its branches.

In 2010, Gweilo Corporation relaunched the new Mario’s Kitchen. With the help of culinary experts, the brand developed, enhanced, and introduced new Filipino favorites that would make its menu a fusion between the two related cuisines.like Spanish and Filipino cuisines.

The Mario’s Kitchen brand started picking up by 2011, and together with the Gweilos franchise, earned Gweilo Corporation a healthy bottomline by the end of the year.  The developments in the franchising prompted the company to apply for an increase of capitalization of P 100M from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which was later approved last April 4, 2014.

Gweilo Corporation continued to attract investors to Mario’s Kitchen in 2012. Franchising was increasingly becoming a preferred avenue for entrepreneurs in the Philippines. The process is convenient, and the transfer of knowledge, technology, and brand was a promising option for those who wished to invest and manage a restaurant of their own. By this time, the Company had a total of 5 branches under it. With the foresight on increasing activities for franchising, Gweilo Corporation sought to change its main purpose from just operating bars and restaurants to include franchising as approved by the SEC in November 2012.

Following the success of its Makati branch, Gweilo Corporation opened another Mario’s Kitchen branch in Ortigas, Pasig City earlier last 2013. The location catered to the working professionals in the Ortigas Business District, as well as residents around the area. Gweilo Corporation also joined Asia’s Biggest Franchising Show held during July2013at the SMX Convention Center, and showcased Mario’s Kitchen as its prime brand.

 2014 was a great year of growth for Gweilo Corporation. It increased its total number of branches of its different brands from 6 to 11. Aside from the branches in Makati and Pasig, Mario’s Kitchen extended its presence in Mall of Asia and the Company welcomed a franchise in Katipunan Avenue Extension, Quezon City. The flagship brand of the Company now has 4 Mario’s Kitchen branches around Metro Manila. A summary of all brands and branches are provided in the table below.

Opportunities also presented itself to the company to enter into new markets, with the Daddy O’s and Grab and Go brands reaching out to the Antel Corporate Center in Ortigas. Galleon by Mario’s Kitchen is a recent venture into the Malate district in Manila City. The concept revolved around providing the favorite Mario’s Kitchen classics plus other Asian, European, and American fusion dishes rolled into a more upscale dining experience.Boiler Room, a neighborhood restaurant/bar catering to professionals and residents of Legaspi Village, Makati City, opened its doors on the third quarter of 2014.

As of 2014, Gweilo Corporation and it’s brands have reached 6 cities around Metro Manila, with 11 branches, 10 of which are company-owned outlets.

The increase in the number of branches also called for the need to expand the commissary. The Gweilo Corporation Commissary transferred to a much bigger location in Bayani Rd., Taguig City, while its old location in San Juan will be made into an additional commissary production center to aid with the increasing production volume. Since its humble beginnings in 2001, the vision of the company brought it to where it is today. Today, Gweilo Corporation has an authorized capital of Two Hundred Million Pesos (P200,000,000.00), with paid-up capital of Eighty-Four Million Pesos (P84,225,000.00). Gweilo Corporation’s Principal Office is located in 109 C. Palanca St., Legaspi Village, Makati City.

GC Quality Restaurant Group, Inc. (GCQRG). is one of the leading Food & Beverage companies in the Philippines, operating over 20 outlets comprised of five well-known and loved brands in the full and self-service, bar, quick counter and delivery categories. In addition, the group also operates a state-of-the-art modern commissary that develops, prepares and packages the menu portions for centralized and efficient inventory management. To maximize capacity, the commissary also provides service for various smaller food outlets that require professional commissary service. The group also operates and markets catering service for all the brands to provide its products in home or other venues outside of the group’s outlet footprint.
It is also worthwhile to note that the Company’s commissary is Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) certified.

GCQRG, Inc. traces its origins some 15 years ago as it started from a simple everyman’s pub and restaurant in the heart of the Makati central business district, Gweilos.
As of 2017, GCQRG, Inc. and its brands are present in six cities in Metro Manila, totaling to 19 branches, 18 of which are company owned.

Further strengthening the aggressive expansion in footprint and market presence is GCQRG’s incubator department which develops brands and owns intellectual property for Third District Coffee Shop, Marco Braumeister Craft Brewery, San Marco Pizzeria and Momo Tori Yakitori Izakaya.

Since its humble beginnings in 2001, the Company now maintains a total of nine brands to its name, including its commissaries and franchising group.
